Image of "Festival" by Sigur Rós

The image you see here is a visual representation of the song "Festival" by Sigur Rós. Our assignment was to create visually what we heard in the song. I chose a specific part towards the middle of the song to display. The main focus of this assignment was to use layers, varying opacity, and a color scheme.
When listening to the song there is a distinct guitar melody that I felt was very prominent. In my design, this can be seen as the horizontal lines at the top. They are displayed how the notes would be scored on the staff. Next, the gray vertical lines in the center reflect the steady drum beat throughout the background of the song. Finally, the dots on the bottom are varying in size and opacity. This is done to reflect chords that seem to fade in and out of the song at different speeds and volumes.
For presentation and critique in class, our professor arranged all of our projects in order based on which part of the song we chose do create. We then listened to the song, as we saw the images in a slide show format. It was very cool to see the wide range of ideas and interpretations.
